Potters Bar: A pleasing suburb on the northern fringe of Greater London, this tranquil town combines the feel of the countryside living with the convenience of being on the fringe of London. With its quaint atmosphere and community-centric spirit, Potters Bar offers a peaceful escape from the capital’s buzz without straying too far from its pulse.

As you stroll through the leafy streets of Potters Bar, the town’s friendly, village-like demeanour is immediately apparent. It’s a quintessential English suburb, a place where neighbours know each other by name and local shopkeepers greet you with a smile. The High Street is dotted with independent shops, cosy cafes, and traditional pubs, providing a warm, welcoming vibe that’s increasingly rare in the fast-paced surrounding areas.

Potters Bar is not just about quiet living; it’s also rich in outdoor activities. Parkfield Park is the local favourite, offering vast green spaces perfect for family picnics, energetic dog walks, and leisurely strolls. With its well-maintained playgrounds and sports facilities, it’s a hub of activity for all ages, fostering a strong sense of community involvement.

The town is surrounded by nature reserves and country parks, such as the nearby Northaw Great Wood, which offers picturesque trails and a chance to reconnect with nature. These spaces are ideal for weekend hikers, bird watchers, and anyone seeking a tranquil retreat into nature.

Little known historical fact: during the First World War, in October 2016, the German Navy sent a zeppelin, the L31 (length 650 feet !), on a London raid and it was shot down by Wulstan Tempest, whereupon it crashed into a field in Potters Bar! What an extraordinary occurrence for a quiet and refined suburb!
